Trips to Sacred Places

Going to sacred places before the Ayahuasca ceremony to contact powerful spirits of nature and purify one's body and spirit is an ancient technique practiced by the indigenous Kichwa shamans.

We recommend to take the advantage of being close to several very beautiful and shamanically powerful sacred places in the area and go for a trip before attenting the Ayahuasca ceremony with one of our experienced guides.

During all trips, we work with powerful plants such as wayusa (or guayusa) to give power and lucidity and natural shamanic tobacco to contact the spirits and meditate on the sacred place.

Sacred waterfalls Umbuni

We begin the trip at 8am by travelling to the entrance to the waterfall (30 minutes from Tena by car).

After 20 minutes of walking and learning about local plants and animals of the secondary forest, we arrive at a giant waterfall where we cleanse our bodies and spirits and perform offering to the beings of the waterfall. This place is famous for its shamanic power.

We walk back and pay a visit to a local family where traditional food will be prepared for us - organic chicken or fish with yuca, rice and wayusa (vegetarian or vegan food also possible).

After resting a while, we take a different trail, and after 20 minutes of walking arrive at the upper part to visit a smaller waterfall where we can again purify ourselves and make offerings.

We visit a small cave closer to the waterfall, where you can see huge fossils of cephalopods and trees, touch stalactites and observe claw spiders.
